Schools and Teachers

The Gallery is an ideal destination for your school visits and provides unique opportunities for learning across the curriculum. Ten gallery spaces, with fabulous elevated views across the city, offer plenty of inspiration for pupils and teachers alike.

The Learning Studios provide space for pupils to develop ideas through practical, hands-on activities. For break times, we have an indoor picnic area, shop, café, large outdoor spaces and adventure playground – great for burning off excess energy!

Early years

Gallery visits are ideal in supporting children’s natural curiosity to explore and learn. Experiencing works of art in a unique, gallery environment can provide children with inspirational starting points, stimulating and enriching children's development and nurturing imagination, creativity and communication skills.

If you’re planning on leading your own visit, why not book our Early Years Explorer Kit, which contains lots of tactile objects, materials and activity ideas, that encourage different ways of engaging with the artworks and building. There is no charge if you want to lead your own visit. Please book your visit at least two weeks in advance.

Primary

Our Creative Practitioner team is made up of practising artists who specialise in sculpture, installation, creative writing, printmaking, textiles, performance, drawing and music. Sessions take place in the galleries and the Learning Studios and include practical and theoretical activities that encourage pupils to develop emotional, creative and critical responses to art and space.

Secondary

We welcome bookings for self-directed visits and have a number of written and object-based resources available to support your session, including Resource Boxes, Art Kits and Teachers' Information Pack.
